Outcome of Early and Late Induction of Labour in Premature Rupture of Membranes

Objective: To determine the frequency of early and late labour induction in premature rupture membranes compare their outcome.
 Study Design: Cross sectional study.
 Place Duration Study: Department Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan,from Jan-Dec 2021.
 Methodology: One hundred sixty-four pregnant women aged 18-35 years, with uncomplicated pregnancies at gestational age ≥37 weeks to ≤40 membranes, were included. All primigravida multiparous previous normal vaginal deliveries selected. Patients selected reactive CTG, adequate pelvis, clear liquor vertex presentation. Induction achieved cervical Prostaglandin E2. Labour was monitored accordingly.
 Results: Seventy-four (45%) presented (and got labour) within 12 hours (early labour), while 90(55%) fell under labour. 35(21%) delivered by instrumental delivery, 31(19%) caesarian section. The most common indication section fetal distress (36%), followed poor progress (32%). witnessed less chorioamnionitis (7% vs 18%) post-partum haemorrhage (8% 13%). Likewise, incidence neonatal sepsis (3% 10%) limited APGARs birth 12%). No death observed 164 cases.
 Conclusion: For term earlier results lower maternal morbidity.
